Update regarding Summer Camp and COVID-19

After careful review of all our camp activities, procedures, and protocols, we are feeling confident that we will be able to run Summer Camp safely. We will revise our programming in a number of ways to accommodate social distancing and to reduce object sharing. Some of our COVID-related protocols include:

1. CHECK IN. Each child will be checked in individually each morning. At that time parents will be asked to provide a health verification. Using a no-touch thermometer, we will take the temperature of both child and parent. If either has a temperature above 99.5 degrees, the child will not be allowed to participate in camp that day.

2. SESSION SIZE. We are going to run camp this summer at 60% capacity; we will have 6 children instead of 10 in each session. The reduced number of campers will make it easier to enforce safety protocols, and will also make room for more distance between campers.

3. ACTIVITIES. We will have individual supplies for each camper, so none of them have to share. Everything (equipment, tools, art supplies, chairs, tables) will be color coded, and each student will use only their supplies for the duration of the entire week of camp.

4. RESTROOMS. The six campers will have a dedicated restroom for their use throughout the week. We will also provide hand sanitizer and make sure the kids use it between activities.

5. MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING. Given the heat of the summer and the active nature of camp, we are striving to keep the kids more than six feet apart at all times. We will, however, have the campers wear masks if there are times when that is not possible.

On June 6th at 3:00pm, we will have a demonstration of camp procedures and will be available to answer any questions you might have about COVID-19 and camp at Palladia. Please attend if you are interested! Or feel free to call or email us at any time.

Whether your student is brand new to horseback riding or has been taking lessons for a while, Palladia Farm Summer Camp is the perfect all-around horse experience at our beautiful farm. Camp is open to students from ages 6 to 11, and no prior horseback riding experience is needed.

Each camp session offers a low staff-to-camper ratio that each can develop an individual relationship with our horses and instructors. While under constant supervision, each student learns to safely halter, lead, and groom a horse. Beginning riders will be shown how to put a bridle and saddle on the horse, how to mount safely, and how to navigate the ring at a walk and trot. More advanced students will learn how to recognize and treat common ailments, how to clean and assemble tack, and will practice their riding skills at the walk, trot, canter, and over low jumps if appropriate.

Students ride in one 30-45 minute semi-private or group lesson with our instructors daily.

Each day there will also be a fun session in our clubroom and barn aisle, the focus of which will be learning more about our equine friends, including how to recognize breeds, colors, and different styles of riding. At Palladia Farm, we value the individuality and creativity of every child. To this end, we also offer time for arts and crafts, allowing the students to relax and pursue projects that appeal to their individual sensibilities. Other activities include scavenger hunts, crafts, games, and miscellaneous fun around the barn.

Camp runs for several weeks throughout the summer ( this year’s dates are listed below), and cost is $500 per week-long session, per camper, payable in advance.

Each week, camp runs from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30am to 3:00 pm. You can sign up for one week or many! We can’t wait to see you this summer.
